ABOUT THE ARTIST

Never ending journey

I'm Marleen Schutyser, a Belgian plastic artist, that has been moving around the ceramics landscape most of my life.
Graduating in many different branches I found meaning in expressing myself in ceramics, porcelain and the use of glazing. Defying the standard use of a ceramics turntable by interweaving different materials and triggering their individual deficiencies results in a very personal approach of ceramics.
By using a combination of ceramics, porcelain, glass and minerals as a medium to transmit the plentitude of feelings inherently found in the natural world I evokes elements of natural world and conveys abstract feelings to the viewer, replicating the tension and serenity which are quietly present in our surrounding of objects and the formless of the being.
